Morning Light (small)

This was a photo I took early one morning and the sun streaked through the trees. The glimmer was eye opening. A very unique wood carving, this was my first attempt using a technique called “slicing”. As you can see from some of the close up photos, some elements of the carving went all the way through the wood–creating negative space. I love using negative space in my artwork. The carving was done in Cherry and hand painted. Only 3/8" thick. Fragile in certain places. Ready to be hung.
