Captain's Table

Inspired nautical theme, here is my first sailboat. It is also my first carving in plywood. Yes, one day I decided to see how plywood would render a carving. The natural layers in the plywood give it contrast as they are exposed. This is maple plywood so the surrounding frame is finished maple veneer. I created an inner frame from which I inserted hard maple inlay. The outer edge is also framed in hard maple.
